Love Thy Beast is a fiberglass sculpture casted from a two-part mold and adorned with handcrafted masks sculpted from cement paper mache clay.
Love Thy Beast is an exploration of self-discovery and the healing that takes place when we acknowledge trauma and greet our beastly shadow with love. Each Beast offers the gift of reflection and a moment to look deep within ourselves. The masks are a representation of who we are as part of the animal kingdom and the different masks we wear in life for protection and preservation. I drew inspiration from my own life experiences that have taught me to accept the past and embrace the future. In doing so, I incorporated a modern-minimalist aesthetic to convey a sense of clarity and introspection. I hope this piece inspires you to greet your Beasts with COURAGE and LOVE.
